Brown Spots, Lines and Wrinkles? Why You Should Consider a Restore Peel

Brown Spots, Lines and Wrinkles? Why You Should Consider a Restore Peel

Posted by Madeline, Aesthetician - Vanguard Aesthetics on on Nov 18th 2022

Are you looking for a total renewal of your skin? Do you have pesky stubborn brown spots you would like to lighten? Texture making your skin not appear as smooth as you would like? Or are you feeling dull? The Restore Peel here at clara by Vanguard may be just what you need! The Restore Peel is exactly what it sounds like, a restoration of your skin!

This peel will focus on lightening brown spots, smoothing fine lines and wrinkles, refining pores, rejuvenating your skin’s appearance and improving the overall health of the skin. It is mostly comprised of high percentages of Tretinoin and Arbutase. Tretinoin will stimulate your collagen, clear out your pores, and even out texture, while the Arbutase targets the brown spots to minimize sun damage.

With this peel, there are a few key things to know:

  • Plan to have about 7-10 days of downtime. You may be slightly flaky and dry for up to 3 or 4 weeks, but the brunt of the peeling should take place within the first week.
  • Along with the peeling skin, you will notice some extra redness throughout the skin. Peels are very stimulating for the skin and blood flow. That flush look can last that initial week and, in some cases, the redness will fade after that week but the skin may stay a little extra pink in some areas (most commonly around the mouth) until the skin is fully healed.
  • The day of the peel, plan to have the peel solution actively on the skin for anywhere from 6-8 hours. The peel solution itself is mixed into a zinc-based cream and you will leave with a thick white cream all over the skin. It will remain as such for the full 6-8 hours. I like to compare the look to the movie Mrs. Doubtfire! Specifically, the scene where she dips her face in the cream and says her famous line “Oh hello!”.

We will provide a post care kit to aid the healing of the skin post peel. This will help to control your results and give you a well-rounded routine in the weeks after the peel. In the post care kit, you will receive the following clara medical skin care products : Foamy Cleanser, Soothing Balm, Recovery CreamUV Luxe +, and a Clara Bright Custom Blend compounded to whatever strength your skin professional feels will be appropriate for your skin.

We will also keep track of your skin’s progress along the way by updating VISIA images before the peel, as well as 2 and 4 weeks after the peel. We recommend updating photos every 3-4 months thereafter to monitor continued progress and see if there is anything in your routine that should be adjusted.

The best time to do any chemical peel will be wintertime as the sun is as not as intense. Sun exposure should be avoided for 10-14 days post peel and sunscreen is imperative for results (even if you are not in direct sunlight).
